A very ‘Carnival’ Carnival start

Jesús Álvarez Cervantes, preacher of the Miguelturra Carnival 2020.

The sports journalist and head of the sports area of the news of TVE, Jesús Álvarez Cervantes, kicks off the Carnivals of Miguelturra 2020, a very sporty proclamation for our carnivals.

The Peña Los Segadores with its charanga, as is usual in our carnival, was responsible for organizing the event and from eight in the afternoon, local, provincial and regional authorities, along with members of the Association of Peñas, Rey Carnival, Peñas of the town and Mascaras Mayores, gathered at the gates of the City Hall in the Plaza de España to receive Jesús Álvarez Cervantes.

After the reception, the delegation went to CERE and made the traditional visit to the ‘MOMO’ Carnival Museum. At 9:30 p.m. the long-awaited proclamation began, with a Carnival Palace overflowing and under the baton of our great presenter Tere Rodado. First, I take the floor the mayor of the town, Laura Arriaga and thanked the presence of authorities, clubs, street masks and the preacher Jesús Álvarez.

Jesus took the stage of the Carnival Palace to the rhythm of the music of the charanga, he joined the audience in a proclamation that toured different topics such as sport, tradition, poetry and music, adapting and incorporating them into what is a Carnival proclamation. He had references to Lope de Vega to explain how his coming has been as a preacher of the Miguelturra Carnival by Francisco Javier Martín del Burgo. He also cheered up and sang a little bit of ‘Fiesta’ by Joan Manuel Serrat.

As a good sports commentator, he gave us the alignment of our carnival clubs between cheers and applause from the audience. The proclamation ended with the traditional Long live the Carnival!! – Long live Miguelturra!!

Once the proclamation was completed, Álvarez received the typical carnival pottery, which this year starts a new format and Charanga sang an unexpected Happy Birthday, since he was born on February 22, 1958.

Juan David Ortiz also took the stage to receive his prize as the winner of the Poster Carnival Poster 2020 contest, whose title is ‘Carnival Masks’.

Once the proclamation was finished, the entourage went to Peña los Reapers’ silk and during the tour Jesus kindly attended to the people who came to take pictures with him.

The party is already underway, thank you very much Jesus.
