La Cabra’s double in the Museo del Carnaval Costumes contest

The Goat Peña first prize in the men’s and women’s costume, David Méndez first prize individually

The Carnival Palace is filled again to witness the XXXV Carnival Museum Costume Contest. At 9:30 p.m., the local Peñas presented their costumes with which they will participate in the Piñata Sunday parade. The winning costumes in the men’s and women’s category will remain for the next five years in the ‘MOMO’ Carnival Museum, the winning costume in the individual category will remain for one year.

The prizes were the following:

Individual Costume

Prize 200 euros sponsored by Certrade Azulejos y Pavimentos, David Méndez Mendoza, theme “Fantasy, India looks for a cowboy to light her pipe”

Woman’s Costume

Prize 400 euros sponsored by the Municipality of Miguelturra, Peña the Goat, theme “The Guardians of Time”

Men’s Constume

Prize 400 euros sponsored by the Municipality of Miguelturra, Peña the Goat, theme “The Guardians of Time”

Once this contest was over and while the jury was deliberating, the prizes for the 4th Carnival Showcase Contest were awarded. This event has led the local businesses to show off the festive and carnival atmosphere that Miguelturra breathes on these dates.

The event has been organized by the Small Business Association and the Miguelturra City Council. The jury composed of Diego Rodríguez, Councilor for Celebrations of the Miguelturra City Council, Valentín Muñoz, decorator and restaurateur and Jesús Muñoz, secretary of the Carnival Peñas Association, awarded the following prizes:

Best Composition and Design Award, 100 euros gift voucher sponsored by Viajes Rodrigo and Rodrigo’s Inmobiliaria, for Óptica Lara.

Originality and Innovation Award, 100 euros gift voucher sponsored by Distribuciones Sacra, for Peke’s.

Special Audience Award, travel gift voucher valued at 100 euros sponsored by the Miguelturra City Council, for Disfrutería de Alba.

All the winners received the corresponding diploma, carnival mask, 30 advertising spots on Radio Miguelturra and an 8 by 11 ad in the BIM for the month of April.

Finally, three purchase vouchers, of 50 euros each, were delivered among the votes cast in the ballot box at the House of Culture to vote for the Special Public Prize, awarded by Distribuciones Sacra, Viajes Rodrigo and Rodrigo’s Inmobiliaria, resulting winners: María del Castillo González, Victoria Arévalo and Manuel Maya. Some vouchers that were delivered by the Councilor for Celebrations, Diego Rodríguez, the president of the Association of Carnival Peñas, Raúl Domínguez and the Major Masks 2019, María Paz del Hierro and Antonio Rodrigo.
