September 2025 Festivitie
The September Patron Saint Festivities mark the beginning of the journey toward the 2026 Miguelturra Carnival.
On Saturday, September 13, 2025, Carnival groups and bands from Miguelturra held the brotherhood gathering they usually hold during the patron saint festivities in September.
Ten Peñas prepared the traditional meals they offer to those who want to enjoy this day, which marks the beginning of the 2026 carnival.
Peñas and Charangas liven up the patron saint festivities
Migas, paella, fried eggs, and meat and potato stews were among the various offerings enjoyed by the hundreds of people who visited Doctor Fleming Park at this gathering of groups and peñas for the Miguelturra Carnival.
The groups of Major Masks, El Puntillo, Kapikúa, Los Rocheros, Los Segadores, La Cabra, Cansaliebres, Maltrataos, El Bufón and L@s Spartan@s provided the flavor, while the bands of El Bufón and Kata Pum Chimpúm provided the musical color.
1st Cake Contest
In the afternoon, the peña El Puntillo organized the first cake contest at the Palacio del Carnaval. The Major Masks of 2024 and 2025, Rafa, Mª Luisa, Berna and Esther, were part of the jury. Also part of the same Francisco Angulo, exemplary churriego and Andrés Camacho, president of the Peña El Puntillo. The contest distributed a total of three prizes of 200, 100 and 75 euros.
Let’s go for Carnival 2026
Thus begins the race toward next year’s Carnival. In a few weeks, we’ll be announced as the 53rd pair of Major Masks for the Miguelturra Carnival, who will take over from Esther and Berna. According to what we’ve heard, everything is already well underway and will be announced during the first half of October.
The rules for the ‘Miguelturra Carnival 2026 Announcement Poster’ contest are also almost here, and as previously announced, we’ll have a very Christmassy Pre-Carnival. Will it be around this time that we’ll find out who will give the Opening Speech?
In short, the carnival groups and clubs are already preparing patterns, fabrics, thimbles, and thread to give shape to the costumes they will wear in a few months.
Un carnaval que se iniciará el viernes 13 de febrero con el pregón inaugural y finalizará con el Desfile Nacional del Domingo de Piñata el 22 de Febrero.
