Presentation of the 4th Cultural Days of the Miguelturra Carnival
Under the title ‘Tradition, Ritual and Society: Carnival as the Culmination of the Festive Winter’, Miguelturra will once again unite culture and research on February 6, 7 and 8. The CERE (anteroom to the Carnival Museum) will be the epicenter of a program that includes lectures, round tables, workshops and the popular theatrical tours by Flauti Flauti Teatro.
Carmen María Mohíno, Councilor for Culture and Festivities, highlighted the growing popularity of this event, which allows for a deeper understanding of the symbolism and social value of the festival. She also emphasized the project’s expansion, which this year already included a successful preliminary debate in Ciudad Real. The councilor also mentioned the return of the themed tastings at the Taberna Taskarnaval (February 3-5), an event that blends history and gastronomy.
For their part, Diego Rodríguez, president of the Association of Clubs, and Francisco Manuel Peco, director of the conference, agreed that the objective is to protect the historical legacy of the “churriego” carnival from a scientific and educational perspective, inviting all citizens to participate in this proposal, which is already a benchmark in the region.
As part of the events of these 4th Cultural Days, there will be a presentation of the book “Get to Know Me, Miguelturra Carnival. 40+5 Anniversary of the Association of Peñas” by Berna Martínez, a resident of Miguelturra, in which this website and its owner, the Historical-Cultural Association carnavaldemiguelturra.es, are participating.
