Antonio and Gloria, Major Masks 2022
Antonio Gómez Yébenes and Gloria Cruz Fernández, will be the Major Masks of Carnival 2022.
On Wednesday, October 27, in the plenary hall of the Miguelturra City Council, the presentation of the 2022 Major Masks, Antonio Gómez Yébenes and Gloria Cruz Fernández, took place.
The event was attended by the Mayor of the town, Laura Arriaga, the Councilor for Celebrations Diego Rodríguez, the President of the Association of Peñas del Carnaval, Raúl Domínguez, the King of Carnival, Serafín Delgado and the 2020 Major Masks, Manolo González and Mª Carmen Céspedes.
Laura Arriaga introduced the next major masks of Carnival 2022 to the various media outlets attending the event. A pair of masks will represent the entire town of Miguelturra during the upcoming Carnival. A Carnival that will be very special after the 2021 break. She also reminded us that Gloria is the daughter of Major Masks.
They will be the 42nd couple
Diego Rodríguez hopes that during this very special carnival, the people of Miguelturra will rise to the occasion. Just as they did during last year’s break, they will provide support and encouragement to the couple who will be the 48th Major Masks of the Miguelturra Carnival.
Raúl Domínguez reminded them that they still have a lot of work ahead of them. It’s worth it because they’ll be able to enjoy a great carnival. He also offered them his full support, and of course, that of the Peñas Association.
Serafín Delgado, as usual, brought humor to this presentation. Among other things, he reminded us of Antonio’s fondness for cologne during Carnival. Serafín, I wish you a great carnival and he expressed his satisfaction because this year the Major Masks will be two members of the rock of which he is the founder and president, La Peña la Cabra.
Mª Carmen and Manolo expressed their satisfaction and joy at the appointment of Gloria and Antonio, expressing their confidence that the four of them would enjoy every minute of the carnival in the upcoming carnival.
Gloria and Antonio excited about their appointment
To conclude the ceremony, Gloria and Antonio spoke, very grateful, happy, and excited about the appointment. They are both very carnival-loving and hope to live up to their predecessors. Gloria also reminded us that her parents were older masks at the 1985 carnival.
Antonio is 64 years old and Gloria is 63, they are natives of Miguelturra, they are married and have three daughters, Gloria, Belén and Mª José.
Antonio is a masonry officer and Gloria is a home help assistant. Among Gloria’s hobbies are yoga and walking, while Antonio’s are fishing, hunting and soccer, but above all, one of his passions is carnival. , where we have seen them dressed as schoolboys, as magicians and witches, as Brazilians, but above all, as street masks with their rags on their faces as tradition dictates, with an addition, Antonio’s bottle of cologne.
Congratulations.
