2026 Program Presentation

A rich and participatory programming that puts the clubs at the center

On the night of Wednesday, January 28, in the plenary hall of the City Council, the extensive program that the 2026 carnival will have was announced.

In the presentation of the program, the Councilor for Culture and Celebrations, Carmen María Mohíno, was accompanied by the outgoing Major Masks, Berna and Esther, the incoming Juan Carlos and Miguel Ángel, King of the Carnival, Serafín Delgado, Councilor for Family, Julián Margotón and the president of the Carnival Peñas Cultural Association, Diego Rodríguez.

Diez intensos días

February 13 will be the official start. Álvaro Casares will proclaim it from the rooftops in his inaugural speech at the Carnival Palace, unleashing the town’s most emblematic festival and paying tribute to its figure par excellence, the Street Mask.

Mohíno has outlined all the activities that will take place over these intense ten days. The program maintains the structure of events from previous years, many of them well-established.

He also broke down the economic data of our most popular and participatory party. A budget that amounts to up to 100,000 euros, which includes prizes, new investments in the Momo Museum and street decoration, bidding for the Carnival Palace, as well as for promotions and disseminating the festival declared of national tourist interest.

After the intervention of the Councilor for Celebrations, the Councilor for Family, Julián Margotón, presented the activities and prizes that will be organized by his department.

A very complete programming

The president of the Association of Clubs, Diego Rodríguez, indicated that we have a very complete program. He thanked the efforts of all the people and clubs behind these activities, asking for respect and civility during the celebration of this emblematic festival.

Like Mohíno, he highlighted those 20 years of the Peña Los Cansaliebres and had words of gratitude towards his predecessor in office, Raúl Domínguez.

The ‘less serious’ part, as always, is provided by our Carnival King, Serafín Delgado, exchanging jokes with the attendees and especially with the Major Masks, and as usual, he asked for good weather during the carnival celebration.

An unforgettable year

Next, the Major Masks, Berna and Esther, spoke, describing the year they had experienced as unforgettable and encouraging their successors to enjoy it and live it intensely, because these ten days fly by.

There was no shortage of words of gratitude to the Major Masks of 2024, Rafa and María Luisa, and they concluded by encouraging the streets to be filled with street masks and for good weather, as a lot of rain fell last year.

Let people come and enjoy our carnival

Juan Carlos and Miguel Ángel thanked the people who have made it possible for them to be proclaimed Major Masks and invited everyone to experience our carnival, even if it is only for one day, because they will surely repeat it. Likewise, they encouraged people to discover our gastronomy and the unique atmosphere created by the peñas, street masks and brass bands.

The event ended with a “Long live the Miguelturra Carnival!” and “Long Live the Major Masks!”
