The Cadiz-based comparsa “Araka la Kana” and the anthology of Juan Carlos Aragón, at the 2018 pre-carnival in Miguelturra.

Churriego stand-up comedian Chema Trujillo will perform during the break in the first act of the 2018 Churriego pre-carnival. The highlight will be a performance by the Cadiz-based comparsa “Araka la Kana” and the anthology by Juan Carlos Aragón.

Juan Carlos Aragón is one of the most renowned composers of the Cádiz Carnival. He won his first award in 1999 with the chirigota Los Yesterdays, in 2002 with the comparsa Los Angeles Caídos, in 2007 with the comparsa Araka la Kana, and in 2015 with the comparsa Los Millonarios.

Araka la Kana, led by Juan Carlos Aragón Becerra, won first prize for comparsas at the COAC (Council of Accords), honoring Uruguayan comparsas. This first prize allowed them to tour Uruguay in April, sharing the stage with José María Gatussa Silva’s Uruguayan comparsa from Montevideo, “Araca la Cana.” They will also share the stage on June 7, 2007, at the Teatro Falla in Cádiz for the Carnival Gala.
