Presentation Programme 2024
All activities for Carnival 2024 now known
On the evening of Thursday 25th January, the extensive programme for Carnival 2024 was unveiled in the Town Hall plenary hall.
At the presentation of the programme, the Councillor for Culture and Festivities, Carmen María Mohíno, was accompanied by the outgoing and incoming Major Masks, as well as the president of the Carnival Peñas Cultural Association, Raúl Domínguez.
The program will soon be available for download in PDF format, as usual.
This year, Carnival kicks off very early on February 9th. Javier Ruiz will deliver the opening speech at the Carnival Palace and kick off the town’s most emblematic festival with its quintessential figure, the Street Mask.
Mohíno has outlined all the activities that will take place over these intense ten days. The program maintains the structure of events from previous years, many of them well-established. The most important new features are the increase in the number of prizes in the National Contest of Piñata Sunday and the change of route, which will be the reverse of previous years.
Another important new feature announced by the president of the Cultural Association of Peñas is the possibility for mothers and fathers to access the CERE on the day of the children’s carnival. They will be able to do so in a designated area separate from the children.
The major masks close the presentation
The presentation concluded with speeches by the outgoing and incoming major masks. They invited everyone to participate in these festivities, enjoy them, and have a great time, hoping the weather is good and the rain doesn’t make an appearance.
