2027 Promotional Poster Guidelines

Submission period open for the 2027 Carnival Poster Contest

The Miguelturra City Council’s Department of Festivities and the Miguelturra Carnival Peñas Association announce a contest to select the official poster for the 2027 Carnival—an event designated as being of National Tourist Interest. The deadline for registration and the submission of original entries is November 7, 2026, and the contest is governed by the following RULES:

1. THEME:

The theme must be related to CARNIVAL and representative of the festival. The technique, style, and colors used in the creation of the entries are open to all, and only original works that have not previously won awards will be accepted.

Images of the works may not be previously published or exploited by third parties, including printed or digital editions.

Posters can be made using any method: photographic composition, digital system, painting…

Since one of the competition’s objectives is to support artistic creativity, works created using Artificial Intelligence (AI) will not be accepted.

2. FORMAT:

The submitted posters must be suitable for printing at a size of 45 by 65 centimeters and must include the following inscription: MIGUELTURRA (Ciudad Real) Carnaval 2027. FIESTAS DE INTERÉS TURÍSTICO NACIONAL. The name of the town must occupy a prominent space, with its size relative to that of the province maintaining a ratio of no less than 1 to 5. Following the event, the contest winner must submit a version of the winning design adapted to a horizontal format of 1920 x 1080 pixels.

The work will not include any text other than those indicated above, nor any advertising drawings.

The Department of Culture and Communication will add the necessary institutional details to the winning poster for publication.

3. PRESENTATION:

Unsigned posters must be submitted electronically. That is, online through the Mundo Arti art platform www.mundoarti.com, in the designated competition section, attaching an image or PDF file no larger than 5 MB.

Submissions will be accepted from the publication of these rules—Tuesday, September 15, 2026—until 11:59 p.m. on Saturday, November 7, 2026.

4. SUBMISSION OF WORKS AND JURY:

The jury that will select the finalist works will be composed of at least three members appointed by the Department of Culture, from among those involved in culture and the arts.

The names of the Jury members will be announced before the deadline for submitting posters.

The Jury will pre-select the posters, which must be submitted mounted on foam board (minimum A3 format). This pre-selection of finalists will take place between November 9 and 12, 2026. Following this, each finalist will be notified and instructed to send their pre-selected poster to the *Casa de Cultura* (Cultural Center) at C/ Perlerines, 26, CP 13170, Miguelturra (Ciudad Real), with the work’s motto or title indicated on the back. Additionally, each finalist entry must include a sealed envelope—labeled with the corresponding motto—containing a photocopy of the author’s national ID card (DNI), clearly showing their full name, address, and town/city of residence. Contact telephone number and email address must also be provided.

Inside this sealed envelope, you must include, very importantly, a sworn statement guaranteeing the original authorship of the work, ownership of the work, and the use of techniques other than AI for its creation. A CD with the file in digital format (JPG, TIFF, or PSD) must be included.

The deadline for submitting the selected works is Friday, November 20, 2026. A CD or USB flash drive containing the work’s file in digital format (JPG, TIFF, or PSD) must be included.

The referral will be under the responsibility and risk of the contestants.

Upon receipt of the finalist entries, the Jury will proceed to select the winner, and its decision shall be final.

The jury’s decision will be announced during the week of November 23–27, 2026.

5. PRIZE AND DELIVERY:

A single prize of 1,000 euros and a souvenir gift from the competition has been established. The prize is subject to the corresponding withholding for personal income tax.

A mandatory requirement for awarding the prize for the Miguelturra 2027 Carnival poster is that the winner be present at the Carnival opening ceremony, which includes the opening proclamation and the subsequent official presentation of the poster award. This event will take place on Friday, February 5, 2027, at the Exhibition and Performing Arts Center (C.E.R.E.)—located in the town’s Doctor Fleming Park—during the late afternoon or evening.

6. EXHIBITION:

The organizers will exhibit the submitted works at the Casa de la Capellanía during December and January of the 2026–2027 season. These works will also be available for viewing on the official Miguelturra City Council website.

Non-winning entries may be collected during office hours from February 1, 2027, until March 15, 2027. After this date, any uncollected works will remain in the possession of the Organization.

7. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS:

Admitted participants grant the rights of reproduction, distribution and/or public communication conferred upon them by the Intellectual Property Law 1/1996 of April 12, under the following general terms and conditions:

The award-winning creation will remain the full and exclusive property of the Organization, which reserves the right to reproduce and disseminate it through the channels it deems most appropriate.

If during the course of the contest it is found that any of the submitted works have been plagiarized, the Organization will automatically disqualify the individual and their work.

The Miguelturra City Council disclaims any liability for plagiarism or any violation of current intellectual property regulations that participants may incur.

The intellectual property rights, exploitation rights, and printed or digital adaptations of the selected posters will be transferred to the Miguelturra City Council indefinitely.

Consequently, the Miguelturra City Council may hold exhibitions, prints, or publish catalogs citing the authors, always for non-profit purposes.

The online broadcasting and transmission of the works and their availability through interactive digital networks are expressly included.

The authors undertake to take appropriate action to protect the right to privacy, honor, and self-image.

This implies the authorization and/or permission of the people who may appear in the submitted works, with the author assuming all responsibility related to the right to privacy.

8. JURY

The jury will be composed of highly regarded professionals in the fields of the visual arts, art criticism, or culture, appointed by the organizers. Its membership will be made public.

The jury shall be responsible for evaluating the submitted works and awarding the established prize, with the authority to declare the award void if it considers that the works do not meet the minimum required quality.

The jury’s decision shall be final and will be announced on the date specified by the organizers. Any matter not covered by these rules will be resolved directly by the jury itself.

8. OTHERS

The Miguelturra City Council is committed to ensuring transparency and proper application of the rules of the participation process.
