The most family-friendly day of Carnival

Diana, chocolate, children’s carnival, peñas food, masked party and charangas parade on the first Sunday of carnival 2024

The first Sunday of the Miguelturra Carnival began to the rhythm of the traditional carnival reveille by the Peña El Jamón. While the reveilles marched through various streets of the town, the Peña Los Maltrataos prepared and offered delicious hot chocolate and biscuits in the Spain Square.

At 12:00 noon, it was time for the little ones. The Children’s Carnival is already a classic of this carnival, and although the rain tried to stop the little ones, hundreds of them made their way to the Carnival Palace. Organized by the Peña El Bufón, families enjoyed a great carnival atmosphere and the children’s show Paula at the carnivals.

The rain has been with us since early morning, pushing the food offered by the peñas (clubs) to the porches on José Mora Street. But there’s no stopping us here, and we’ll continue celebrating this beloved first Sunday of Carnival.

The programming for this Carnival Sunday was very extensive.

The afternoon progressed with another edition of Masked Volleyball near the Carnival Palace. Inside, a new Zumba masterclass with a carnival atmosphere took place. The streets of the town center were filled with color and music with the masked gathering and the celebration of special days for our peñas.

The Cansaliebres, Rocheros, Kapikúa, Maltrataos, Charanga Alhiguí and Barón Amarillo groups celebrated their day. It was a day of strolling through the town’s main carnival streets, sampling various dishes while the bands provided the musical note on this first and intense Sunday of Carnival, where the rain let up during the afternoon.

In it Carnival Palace , throughout the afternoon, the celebration takes place Masked Party , then continuing the music with the New Generation Trio Orchestra in it Workers’ Center . Carnival invades the streets and souls of Miguelturra and we fully celebrate our beloved Festival of National Tourist Interest.
