Presentation of the 2020 Carnival Program

The ‘MOMO’ carnival museum is the scene of the presentation of the Carnival 2020 program

We already know the activities that will be held throughout Carnival 2020 in Miguelturra. The presentation of the Carnival 2020 program had the Miguelturra Carnival museum ‘MOMO’ as an unbeatable setting, which was attended by the mayor of the town, Laura Arriaga, Councilor for Celebrations Diego Rodríguez, King of the Carnival, Serafín Delgado, president of the Carnival Peñas Association, Raúl Domínguez, major masks of 2019, Antonio Rodríguez and Mª Paz del Hierro, as well as those who will be in 2020, Manolo González and Mª Carmen Céspedes.

Laura Arriaga began the presentation of the program by thanking those present for their attendance and wishing the best for those who will be the biggest masks of 2020 and of course for their predecessors, who will accompany them throughout the entire carnival. Everything is ready, and trunks and closets are already open in search of costumes. This year will also be special for the Peña el Jamón, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary, as well as for another group starting its first carnival, the “Heirs of Loquilandia, Children’s Choir”. The new brand of our carnival is another of this year’s novelties, with the motto ‘Get to know me’, which contains different symbols such as the fat tower, the burial of the sardine, the Campo de Calatrava, the frying pan fruit and the museum of the ‘MOMO’ carnival.

Ten days full of events

Diego Rodríguez presented the various activities and events that will take place throughout the upcoming Carnival. The first weekend will feature the opening speech by Jesús Álvarez, the proclamation of the major masks, a children’s carnival, and masked volleyball. Throughout the week, there will be competitions for pan-fried fruit, Leaving a Trace, Your Mask Sounds Familiar, Carnival Museum Costumes, chirigotas, the Piñata Sunday Parade, a masked race, and the Burial of the Sardine. Of course, there will be free dedicated days for the Peñas, orchestras, and DJ performances at the Carnival Palace. These are just some of the many activities that will take place during the 2020 Miguelturra Carnival.

The program presentation concluded with speeches by the President of the Peñas Association, Raúl Domínguez, and the Carnival King, Serafín Delgado. Both wished for a trouble-free Carnival with good weather. They stated that the Peñas will go all out on their dedicated days to ensure the maximum enjoyment of those who want to enjoy our Carnival.
