Summer Carnival 2026 Presentation
The Pre-Carnival will be the main novelty this year
On Tuesday afternoon, the activities of the seventh edition of the Summer Carnival were presented in the plenary hall of the Miguelturra Town Hall.
Carmen María Mohíno, Councillor for Culture and Festivities, presided over the presentation accompanied by the president of the Association of Peñas, Diego Rodríguez, the manager of the Taberna Taskarnaval, Montse Rivas, King of the Carnival, Serafín Delgado, the Major Masks of 2026, Juan Carlos Pérez and Miguel Ángel Ruiz and by the Peña Fregquísimos, Fernando Lillo and its president Ricardo Céspedes.
Mohíno presented the activities for this new edition of the Churriego Summer Carnival, which will begin with the Pre-Carnival on the night of Friday, June 12th in the Sierra de San Isidro. This activity has been carried out in previous years by the Fregquísimos Peña, and now both the Town Hall’s Department of Festivities and the Association of Social Clubs are joining in.
On Saturday, June 13th, starting at 12:00 noon at the Taskarnaval Tavern, the Summer Beer Carnival Challenge returns. From early morning, local brass bands will liven up the festivities throughout the town’s main streets: Alhiguí from 1:00 PM, Katapum from 4:00 PM, and El Bufón from 7:00 PM.
Starting at 8:00 p.m., the Summer Masks will gather, and then parade towards the fairgrounds to the rhythm of local brass bands.
At 10:00 p.m., the Valencian orchestra ‘Invictus’ will offer their show, and the DJ ‘Juan Spartan’ will keep the party going until 6:00 a.m. on Sunday.
Responsibility, respect, and celebrate it with great joy
Carmen María Mohíno concluded her remarks by thanking the Association of Carnival Groups, the King of Carnival, and the Major Masks for their involvement in establishing the Summer Carnival as one of the most anticipated celebrations of the summer season. She invited everyone to participate in the festivities responsibly, respectfully, and with civic pride.
The Sierra de San Isidro hosts the Pre-Carnival
The president of the Los Fregquísimos Carnival Group, Ricardo Céspedes, thanked the City Council and the Association of Carnival Groups for including the Summer Pre-Carnival in the official program. Music and DJs will be the highlights of the evening, which will take place in the Sierra de San Isidro. He also encouraged attendees to come in costume and enjoy the festivities, respecting the environment and helping to keep it clean.
The president of the Association of Peñas, Diego Rodríguez, also wanted to thank all the clubs for their involvement in this Summer Carnival, a festival that began to celebrate the Declaration of National Tourist Interest and to consolidate itself as a fixed date on the calendar of the people of Churriegos.
He also expressed his gratitude for the involvement of Taskarnaval and the local clubs in organizing this festival, which marks the beginning of the summer celebrations in the province. He further encouraged everyone to participate responsibly and enjoy this summer carnival with light, fun costumes, and above all, lots of enjoyment.
Montse Rivas, manager of the Taberna Taskarnaval, wanted to thank the Association of Clubs and the City Council’s Department of Festivities for their involvement in making her proposal possible, asking for responsible alcohol consumption and wishing everyone a wonderful Summer Carnival.
The presentation concluded with speeches by the King of Carnival, Serafín Delgado, and the 2026 Major Masks, Juan Carlos Pérez and Miguel Ángel Ruiz, who expressed their wish for good weather, a very cool day, with refreshing costumes, and for the celebration to proceed with respect and great joy.
