Summer Carnival 2026
A summer pre-carnival, spectacular weather and a slightly broken Charleston at the Summer Carnival 2026
On Friday, June 12th, the 7th edition of the Summer Carnival in Miguelturra kicked off with great success. This year’s event once again benefited from the collaboration of Taberna Taskarnaval and the Fregquísimos social club, and, as usual, was organized by the Department of Culture and Festivities, in conjunction with the Carnival Peñas Association.
This year, on Friday night, the summer pre-carnival organized by the Fregquísimos social club took place in the Sierra de San Isidro. Several DJs enlivened the natural surroundings of the mountains, where hundreds of young people enjoyed a magnificent festive night that lasted until eight o’clock on Saturday morning.
On Saturday, starting at 1:00 PM, the brass bands began to warm up the festive atmosphere. Throughout the morning and until 8:00 PM, the Taskarnaval tavern hosted the second Carnival Summer Beer Challenge.
Gathering and parade towards the fairgrounds
From 8:00 p.m. onwards, they gathered in the Plaza de España. In front of the Town Hall, a large number of people in costume and carnival groups began the traditional parade towards the fairgrounds.
The event was attended by local authorities and carnival organizers, including the Mayor of the town, Luis Ramón Mohíno, Councillor for Culture and Festivities, Carmen María Mohíno and members of the Municipal Corporation, the president of the Peñas Association, Diego Rodríguez, the Mayor Masks of 2025, Esther Martínez and Berna Martínez and of 2026, Juan Carlos Perez and Miguel Angel Ruiz.
A delegation from our sister carnival in Tarazona de la Mancha also didn’t want to miss this summer event, as did Serafín Delgado, the Carnival King.
A well-established event that once again fills the fairgrounds with color and joy
Our Major Masks, with joy and exuberance, led the parade aboard their mobile stage, sporting colorful costumes inspired by the 1920s. They also provided the day’s ‘anecdote,’ as an untimely breakdown of the mobile stage required emergency repairs once they reached the final point of the route at the fairgrounds.
However, they faced the setback with their characteristic good humor, dancing and entertaining the public to the rhythm of the local brass bands while the problem was being resolved and, with one less wheel, they made it to the fairgrounds.
A great afternoon and evening accompanied by splendid weather, especially as night fell, which allowed everyone to fully enjoy the performance of the Valencian orchestra Invictus, which began at 10:00 p.m.
The big carnival night lasted until well into the early hours of the morning, when DJ Juan Spartan was in charge of putting the finishing touch on a day full of music, fun and festive atmosphere.
