The Churriego Pre-Carnival kicks off on Saturday night, December 16th at the Carnival Palace.

The event was organized by the Peña Los Cansaliebres, the Miguelturra City Council, and the Ciudad Real Provincial Council. Onda Cero and Toyota Ciudad Real sponsored the performance.

Start of the Miguelturra Pre-Carnival

The Churriego Pre-Carnival begins with a performance by the Cadiz-based comparsa “Los Esclavos” (The Slaves) led by Miguel Ángel García Argüez “El Chapa” and music by Raúl Cabrera Fernández.

Once again, the Carnival Palace was packed, this time to enjoy the comparsa that won second place at the 2023 Cádiz COAC. They offered us a repertoire comprised of their performance at the 2023 Cádiz contest and the best of the anthology of Chapa and the sadly deceased Juan Carlos Aragón.

Both the Town Council of Miguelturra and the Peña Los Cansaliebres, thanked the group for their visit and presented them with a commemorative pottery of the Carnival of Miguelturra.

An emotional ending

The finale was extremely moving. The Comparsa Los Esclavos and the Peña los Cansaliebres performed Juan Carlos Aragón’s Credo. This performance concluded this heartwarming event.
