Araka the Kana and the Peña The Cansaliebres initiate the pre-carnival

Araka la Kana and the anthology by Juan Carlos Aragón fill the CERE for the first pre-Carnival event of 2018.

Approximately 1,000 people attended the first pre-carnival event in Churriego, organized by the Peña Los Cansaliebres. Starting at 9 p.m., Araka la Kana and the Antología de Juan Carlos Aragón group began their musical performance, performing the pasodobles, couplets, and medleys with which they conquered the 2007 Cádiz Carnival and won first prize.

Juan Carlos Aragón and his anthology

The second part of the performance was dedicated to the anthology of Juan Carlos Aragón, one of the most award-winning composers at the Cádiz COAC. He won his first award in 1999 with the chirigota Los Yesterdays, in 2002 with the comparsa Los Angeles Caídos, in 2007 with the comparsa Araka la Kana, and in 2015 with the comparsa Los Millonarios.

He also has a second place with Los Condenaos in 2001, a third prize with Banda del Capitán Veneno in 2008, five fourth places in the years 1996 with Los Guiris, in 2000 with Flamenkito Apaleao, in 2001 with Los Panteras, in 2003 with Los Americans, in 2006 with Los Parias and two fifth places, in 2002 with Vota P.I.C.H.A. (independent party of the kids from Aski) and 2005 with Golfo de Cádiz.

Performance by local stand-up comedian Chema Trujillo

During the break, stand-up comedian Chema Trujillo delighted us with a review of local news, getting the audience on their feet with his wit and good humor throughout his performance.

The event was attended by the Councilor for Celebrations, Diego Rodríguez, the Councilor for Culture, Fátima Mondejar, the 2018 senior masks, Orestes Corral and Mª del Carmen León, the 2017 senior masks, José Cañizares and Antonia Nieto, as well as those from previous years, the President of the Miguelturra Carnival Association, Raúl Domínguez and the Carnival King, Serafín Delgado.

At the end of the event, the president of the Peña los Cansaliebres, Alberto Soria, presented a commemorative mask for the 2018 Miguelturra Carnival.

A good start to the 2018 carnival events. Congratulations, Cansaliebres.
