At around 11:30 a.m. on January 10, Orestes Corral and María del Carmen León were presented as the Major Masks of the Miguelturra Carnival 2018, in a press conference attended by José Cañizares and Antonia Nieto, King of the Carnival, Serafín Delgado, President of the Miguelturra Carnival Association, Raúl Domínguez, Councilor for Festivities, Diego Rodríguez and the Mayor of the town, Victoria Sobrino, along with last year’s Major Masks.
Orestes and María del Carmen received congratulations from those in attendance, as well as recommendations to fully enjoy these Carnival days and this unforgettable experience.
For their part, the 2018 Carnival’s Major Masks expressed their gratitude for the trust placed in them to represent the Miguelturra Carnival. Orestes and María del Carmen are two people who have actively participated in these festivities since they were very young, deeply rooted in their carnival spirit.
On Saturday, February 3rd, as usual, Orestes and María del Carmen will attend their first official event, introducing themselves to the entire local carnival community at the peñas dinner, an event that serves as a tribute to those who will be the Carnival’s Major Masks.
Seven days later, on Saturday, February 10th, at the CERE, the Major Masks of the 2018 Miguelturra Carnival will be proclaimed.
The presentation ceremony ended with a “Long Live Carnival!”
