Wafers, fritters, flowers, pineapple rings and doughnuts add flavor to Carnival Monday
Frying Pan Fruit to kick off Carnival Monday 2026
Carnival Monday is a very special day for many residents of Miguelturra. The carnival festivities kicked off early with a parade by the Pelines Children’s School, followed by live broadcasts of the radio programs “Más de uno Ciudad Real” and “Castilla-La Mancha” from Onda Cero, originating from the Carnival Museum.
But if there’s one event we can’t miss and that leaves a great taste in our mouths, it’s the 42nd Annual Frying Pan Fruit Contest, which took place at 12:30 pm. With Juan Carlos and Miguel Ángel (2026 Major Masks), Esther and Berna (2025 Major Masks), and Diego Rodríguez (President of the Carnival Peñas Association) in attendance as carnival authorities, the group was completed by Luis Ramón Mohíno (Mayor of Miguelturra), Carmen María Mohíno (Councilor for Culture and Festivities), and other members of the Municipal Council.
The event was once again brilliantly organized by the Peña los Rocheros, who distributed the fruit in a pan and the lemonade with that traditional recipe that Octavio Martín gave them in 2025.
