Dinner in honor of the Major Masks 2018
The Miguelturra Peñas welcome the 2018 Carnival’s main masks.
Orestes and Mª del Carmen receive the affection of the entire carnival community of Miguelturra.
On the evening of Saturday, February 3rd, the CERE hosted all of the town’s Peñas (groups) in an event that welcomed the 2018 Carnival’s Senior Masks.
The event was attended by the Mayor of Miguelturra, Victoria Sobrino, the Councilor for Festivities, Diego Rodríguez, the Councilor for Culture, Fátima Mondejar, King of the Carnival, Serafín Delgado, president of the Miguelturra Carnival Association, Raúl Domínguez, the 2017 Major Masks, José Cañizares and Antonia Nieto, members of the Municipal Corporation and all the Carnival Peñas of Miguelturra.
Minutes before the dinner began, the King of Carnival, the 2018 Major Masks, and the town’s Mayor addressed the attendees and encouraged them to enjoy Carnival with joy. Sobrino reminded them that it’s almost time for the Miguelturra Carnival to be recognized as a festival of national tourist interest.
For their part, Orestes and Mª del Carmen expressed their gratitude to José and Antonia for the help they are providing, pledging to set an example, just as their predecessors have done.
Serafín, King of Carnival, expressed his desire for the Street Mask to be released and continue the tradition of these carnivals, as it is the ultimate expression of the event. He also wanted to thank Casa Pepe for its efforts to ensure this dinner can be held at the CERE year after year.
