José Luis Rivas Arévalo, Encarni Sánchez Peco, Leandro Arévalo López and Charo Sánchez Juarez, will be the Major Masks of the Miguelturra Carnival 2023
The next carnivals will have two new pairs of Major Masks, something that has not happened since 1987
Exceptionally, the next carnivals will feature two pairs of Major Masks, José Luis Rivas Arévalo (Flat), Encarni Sánchez Peco, Leandro Arévalo López (Lightning) and Charo Sánchez Juarez.
Last Tuesday, October 18, the presentation of the two new pairs of Major Masks for the upcoming Carnival 2023 took place in the plenary hall of Miguelturra Town Hall. The Mayor of the town, Laura Arriaga, the Councilor for Festivities, Diego Rodríguez, the King of the Carnival, Serafín Delgado, the president of the Association of Peñas, Raúl Domínguez, and the 2022 Major Masks, Gloria Cruz and Antonio Gómez, accompanied the two new pairs in their presentation.
José Luis and Leandro have been a carnival couple since the eighties and are better known as ‘Flat and Lightning’.
Jose Luis is 57 years old, a sales agent by profession, and married to Encarni, a 50-year-old domestic worker. They have a son, José Luis, and two daughters, Inés María and Encani.
Leandro is 65 years old, he is a businessman and he is married to Charo, they have two daughters, Rosario and Loli.
Two inseparable couples who make a great team. They are in charge of preparing the cars and sets, while Charo and Encarni are in charge of making the costumes. We’ve seen them dressed as police officers, firefighters, parodying commercials and television shows, as monarchs, princes, and princesses, as chefs with the occasional star, and countless other characterizations, each one more entertaining than the last.
On February 18th at the Carnival Palace, they will receive the affection of all of Miguelturra for their good work and great humor. They will be the 49th and 50th pairs of Major Masks of the Miguelturra Carnival, a festival declared of National Tourist Interest.
Congratulations!!
