Federico Valero Cano, Lanza and RTVE, new ambassadors of the Miguelturra Carnival.
Shrove Tuesday features an event that recognizes the invaluable work of individuals, media outlets, and organizations from various sectors in promoting our beloved tradition. Today, February 17th, in the foyer of the ‘Momo’ Carnival Museum, the fourth Carnival Ambassadors for 2026 were presented.
The event was presented by Tere Rodado and attended by Luis Ramón Mohíno (Mayor of Miguelturra), Carmen María Mohíno (Councilor for Culture and Festivities) and the rest of the municipal corporation.
The carnival authorities have been fully represented: Serafín Delgado (King of the Carnival), Diego Rodríguez (President of the Association of Clubs) and our beloved major masks 2026: Juan Carlos and Miguel Ángel; as well as those of 2025: Berna and Esther.
With all the details prepared, the ceremony began for the three new ambassadors of the Miguelturra Carnival, who received the Alhiguí of Honor.
FEDERICO VALERO CANO, HONORARY ALHIGUÍ AND AMBASSADOR OF THE LOCAL CARNIVAL:
The morning began with the unveiling of the recipient of the Local Honorary Alhiguí, which makes him an Ambassador of the Miguelturra Carnival. For his extensive dedication and involvement with our carnival, for his work in the 1980s, and for his affection for this festival, the Honorary Alhiguí has been awarded to Federico Valero Cano.
PROVINCIAL HONORARY ALHIGUÍ AND CARNIVAL AMBASSADORS FOR THE LANZA NEWSPAPER:
The Lanza newspaper has been recognized for its extensive work and the affection with which it has always covered the Miguelturra Carnival. The Alhiguí de Honor award has been given to all its employees and those who, for decades, have walked the streets of Miguelturra to capture and promote the carnival.
RTVE RECEIVES THE NATIONAL HONORARY AWARD AND IS NOW AN AMBASSADOR OF THE CARNIVAL:
The event concluded with the national recognition that the 2026 Miguelturra Carnival wished to bestow upon RTVE and its employees. Led by Beatriz Pintado Carrión, RTVE’s regional director for Castilla-La Mancha, they received this distinction with great emotion, even daring to shout the familiar “You don’t know me, do you?” that we all love to hear.
Congratulations to the winners and long live the Miguelturra Carnival!
