2025 Photography Contest Awards Ceremony

Francisco Manuel Peco and Enrique Ruiz receive their awards at the Chaplaincy House

The afternoon of Monday, May 26th, was chosen as the day for the awards ceremony of the 26th Miguelturra Carnival Photography Contest.

The event was attended by Caridad Sánchez Ruiz, Councilor for Citizen Participation, Jorge Rubio Muñoz, member of the Municipal Corporation, Inmaculada Pérez Abellán, technician from the Department of Culture and Berna Martínez Romero, Major Mask of the 2025 Carnival and member of the jury.

Pérez Abellán began the event by reading the minutes and the jury’s decision for the photography contest, which awarded two prizes of 300 and 200 euros, as well as the corresponding 2025 Carnival ceramics. First prize went to Francisco Manuel Peco Diaz and second prize to Enrique Ruiz Arenas.

Berna Martínez then congratulated the winners and encouraged photography enthusiasts to participate in this contest, which offers significant cash prizes, in addition to the Carnival ceramics.

Caridad Sánchez echoed this sentiment, noting that some are already experts at collecting these types of awards, alluding to this year’s winner, who is now the fourth consecutive winner.

The contest winner, Francisco M. Peco, stated that it was an honor to receive this award and invited the other photographers who visit us during Carnival to participate and immortalize this emblematic celebration with their photos, leaving a testament to future generations.

The event was closed by Enrique Ruiz, second place winner. His speech provoked laughter from those present, jokingly stating that he will compete next year, but to fight for second place, the first place is reserved for Francisco.
