Bases XXXVIII “Murgas and Chirigotas” Contest

Friday, February 28, after the “Carnival Museum” Costume Contest. The act will be presented by the Municipal Radio Station

  1. All groups or clubs may wish to participate, provided they have a minimum of 10 components. The number of groups is limited to a maximum of 6.
  2. The performance of each group may not exceed 20 minutes.
  3. The jury will consider punctuality and non-interference in the proper development of the contest.
  4. Participants will register the week prior to the celebration of the Contest, sending a copy of the letter to interpret the House of Culture, Perlerines Street 26, Miguelturra. The order of each action will be the responsibility of the organization, for which it may take into account the realization of similar events in the area on the same day and will be communicated to each group.
  5. Awards:
    1st 600 euros
    2nd 450 euros
    3rd 400 euros
    4th 250 euros
    5th 200 euros
    All prizes are sponsored by the  Miguelturra City Council.
  6. During the contest, a competent jury will fail the prize.
Bases XXII Photography Contest
  1. All those who wish may participate, regardless of their age or place of residence.
  2. Each participant may submit a maximum of 3 photographs in color or black and white with a size of 20×30 or 30×45 cm.
  3. The photographs must only include activities carried out in Miguelturra during the 2020 Carnival period.
  4. It will be especially valued that the works highlight the characteristics of the traditional Miguelturra carnival, with special emphasis on the Street Mask. The technical and artistic quality of the works will also be valued.
  5. The photographs will be presented with a white cardboard support of 5 cm on each side, with a motto on the back and in a separate envelope, the author’s personal data will appear. They may also be submitted, initially, only in digital format but, if selected, they must also be presented as indicated at the beginning, within 7 days of the communication as selected.
    If submitted in digital format, the title of the works submitted must be the name of the file. Likewise, a PDF file with the author’s data will be attached in the same email and should be sent to the following address: cultura@ayto-miguelturra.es.
  6. Awards, three awards are established:
    1st Prize: 250 euros and carnival ceramics, sponsored by the Miguelturra City Council.
    2nd Prize: 175 euros and Carnival Ceramics, sponsored by the Miguelturra City Council.
    3rd Prize: Voucher of 80 euros sponsored and redeemable for photo shoot at Katy Aranda Photography and Ceramics of Carnival.
  7. These prizes may be declared deserted. No author may accumulate more than one prize.
  8. RAW Photo Collective Collaborate.
  9. With the work presented, the organization can make a subsequent exhibition in the offices of the new Municipal Library “Casa de Capellanía” and display them on the website.
  10. The jury will be composed of people of recognized solvency and their decision will be final.
  11. The awarded works will be transferred to the organization, which may, if it deems appropriate, edit the work, without the author having acquired rights.
  12. Non-awarded works may be withdrawn until May 30, 2020. Non-withdrawn works will become part of the Culture Area archive.
  13. Deadline for submission: Photographs may be delivered by hand during business hours or sent to the Miguelturra House of Culture, with address at: C/ Perlerines, 26, 13170 Miguelturrra, Telephone: 926241090, until April 10, 2020. The ruling will be made before April 30, 2020.
  14. The Miguelturra City Council will take care of the works submitted to the contest with the greatest zeal, but is not responsible for their deterioration or theft.
  15. The mere fact of participating in the contest means compliance with these rules.
Bases IX Mask Race. “LA CHURRIEGA”

Ready, Set, Go!! To run with the sport Fondist Association of Miguelturra

  1. All individuals, groups or rocks who wish to do so, individually or group, over the age of 18 may take part.
  2. Runners over the age of 16 with guardian’s permission may participate.
  3. Children under 16 years of age accompanied by their guardians may participate.
  4. It is mandatory to be disguised.
  5. Registration will be up to 30 minutes before departure and days before the Youth Center from Monday to Friday from 9:30 to 14:30 and afternoon monday to Thursday from 17:00 to 19:00, on the phone 926160628 extensions 1 or 6 or by e-mail: centrojoven@ayto-miguelturra.es.
  6. La organización facilitará el dorsal.
  7. The route will be a closed circuit with controlled speed of 1500 meters, through the Plaza de la Constitución, Cervantes street to Pradillo de Clavería, twisting by Tercia street to Juan de Avila, Juan de Avila street to Doctor Fleming square, passing through the area Doctor Fleming Square, Pradillo de Clavería, through the parking area to Germán Marina, Germán Marina street, Plaza de España, Plaza de la Constitución, Tertiary, Juan de Avila and Parque Doctor Fleming to end up in the vicinity of the CERE entrance.

At the end of the race, participants can taste chocolate and pastries at CERE, presented by the Association of Widows Our Lady of the Star. The Areté Fitness Sports Center of the town, will draw 5 monthly payments between the participants of the race, 5 tuition fees for their children, Errea La Mancha will draw two vouchers of 50 euros each for sportswear.

In addition, after the race, Areté Fitness monitors will give a ZUMBA FITNES workshop.

Jesús Álvarez Cervantes crier of the Miguelturra Carnival 2020

He is the current Head of the sports area of TVE news

Jesús Álvarez Cervantes, was born in Madrid in 1958 and has a degree in Journalism from the Complutense University of Madrid.

He began his career at the La Voz de Madrid radio station, later moving to RNE. In 1977 he debuted on television in the TVE news space for seven days and in 1979 he will make the jump to the newscasts presenting the sports section. In 1981 and until 1986 he will present Stadium Study, being one of the commentators of the Barcelona Olympics 92.

Throughout his professional career, he has been director of Sports and director of Sports Content of TVE, member of the board of directors of the Press Association of Madrid and member of the jury of the Laureus Sports Awards.

He has obtained numerous distinctions, among which the Ondas Prize in 1977 and 2011 (collective to the TVE News) and the 2000 Golden Antenna awarded by the Federation of Radio and Television Associations of Spain.

 

 

Presentation of the Pre-Carnival Churriego 2020

Chirigota los Quemasangre and the anthology of Selu open the pre-carnival of Churriego

Diego Rodríguez, Councilor for Celebrations of the Miguelturra City Council and Alberto Soria, president of the Peña Los Cansaliebres present the Miguelturra pre-carnival to the media.

Rodríguez opens the presentation of the V Pre-Carnival of Miguelturra, indicating that the Los Quemasangre Cadiz Chirigota, will not leave anyone indifferent with the art that the Cádiz chirigotas have, invites those who want to witness this event already consolidated in the carnivals of Castilla-La Mancha , being this year’s most special, since it coincides with the declaration of the Miguelturra Carnival as a festival of national tourist interest on February 8, 2018 and its subsequent publication in the BOE of February 22. He also thanked Peña Los Cansaliebres for his involvement in the expansion of the name of Miguelturra and his Carnival with the organization of such important events as this pre-carnival.

Soria, on the other hand, has indicated that this year they have decided to change their style, moving from Comparsa to Chirigota, with a group that is a benchmark of the Cádiz carnival, being the group with the most awards obtained in the chirigotas modality. His repertoire with songs like “Whatever my wife says”, “Los enteraos” and “Juan” among others, will surely delight the audience. Finally, he indicated that the tickets are almost sold out and thanked the sponsors and collaborators for their involvement in this event.

Manolo and Mª Carmen are already members of the Peña Major Masks

The Major Masks Peña has two new members

From Sunday, January 26, what will be major masks of Carnival 2020, Manolo and Mª Carmen, are already masks of the Major Masks Peña.

As tradition dictates, the older predecessor masks have welcomed the new ones and celebrated it with a mini party in their honor, in which the traditional chocolate that usually accompanies this event has not been lacking.

Next Saturday, February 22, Manolo and Mª Carmen will receive the affection of the people of Miguelturra and will officially be Major Masks of the Carnival 2020. Today they have received it from their companions and companions, who will guide them during the ten days of the carnival churriego

Manolo, born in Miguelturra in 1962, is a mechanic-driver. In carnival he has always liked to go for street mask free, participating in the first piñata parade in 1980 with Los Currantes.

Mª Carmen, was born in Puertollano in 1965, moving her family to live in our town being she very small, she is a worker of a large commercial area. It belonged to the disappeared Peña la Chambra since its inception and currently belongs to the Peña Los Rocheros.

Manolo and Mª Carmen have a daughter, who is also very carnival.
