Kapikúa Cultural Association

The Kapikúa Cultural Association was founded on the night of April 14, 2014. Its first members were a group of 14 friends and carnival enthusiasts. Angel de la Cruz Yébenes is its founder. As you can see, the number 14 brought them luck.

That night, they began a journey filled with excitement, motivation, and a desire to have fun. Over the years, they have actively participated in the entire province’s Carnival, bringing joy to float parades in towns such as Malagón, Bolaños de Calatrava, Ciudad Real, Alcázar de San Juan and Quintanar de la Orden.

However, Miguelturra is his main focus, pouring all his energy into it and enjoying every second of those 10 days of Carnival, whether taking to the streets to joke around, organizing, or participating in various competitions.

Piñata Sunday, the last day of the Churriego Carnival, is the culmination of seven months of work, which culminates with the exhibition to all attendees of the Murgas, Comparsas and Floats parade, of the entire display they have lovingly prepared during the months leading up to Carnival.

Since 2014, they haven’t stopped walking, and although they participate in youth activities, cultural events, patron saint festivals, and other events throughout the year, Carnival is what they dedicate the most time to and what gives them the most satisfaction.

A commitment to traditional carnival

Kapikúa is a cultural association with no age limit, and anyone who wants to join can join. They are a fun, tolerant group with a friendly atmosphere that makes anyone who joins this great family feel comfortable.

They have opted for a traditional Carnival, maintaining customs and traditions so important in times past, which have given meaning to our festival, but they have also participated in evolving and modernizing certain aspects, without losing their special essence.

They care deeply about our historic Carnival, which is why, along with other local groups, they organize pre-Carnival gatherings, preparing all the events that take place during those 10 days. Everything has to be perfect so that Churriegos and visitors can enjoy a great Carnival program.

Its president, from here, would like to encourage everyone to learn about its good work, to participate in all the planned events, and to soak up our enthusiasm and our way of experiencing the Miguelturra Carnival year after year.

I bet you don’t dare to meet us? See you on the streets!
