Cultural Association Peña el Puntillo

The Peña el Puntillo Cultural Association not only participates in the carnival, but also participates in all the workshops for children, youth, and adults from other towns. It organizes all kinds of excursions for everyone, making it possible to enjoy a pleasant day at an affordable price. Among the many activities they hold throughout the year are the Bar Counter at the San Isidro Pilgrimage, the Halloween Horror Passage, Haunted Nights, and the Youth Cultural Gathering.

Activities throughout the year

“Enchanted Nights of…Getting to Know You” is the workshop in which the association is most involved year after year. Organized by the Local Youth Council and the Miguelturra Youth Center, every Thursday in July, it brings together several associations at the Municipal Swimming Pool, holding various workshops focused on young people between the ages of 12 and 26. The “Passage of Terror” is another workshop in which they actively participate.

It is held on Halloween night every October 31st, also organized by the Local Youth Council and the Miguelturra Youth Center. Typically, members of the association dress up in accordance with the theme of this spooky workshop each year, preparing to give their best scares to those who dare to participate. One of the main virtues of this association is the unity maintained by its members, mainly due to their high participation in the numerous activities they organize.

Passion for Carnival

The Miguelturra Carnival is the association’s strong suit. More than half a year is dedicated to its preparation. Everything must be ready and well-prepared to enjoy its festivities year after year, and of course, the Parade of Comparsas and Floats on Piñata Sunday.

For its first four consecutive years, El Puntillo has won the men’s competition at the Miguelturra Carnival Museum Costume Competition, presented by Emilio Rodríguez and featuring the themes “Puntilliqui Tribe”, “Imbrasia”, “Enter the World of the Eagles” and “Jaguar Warriors”. They have also received several awards in the troupe and float parades in other towns, such as Torralba de Calatrava, Malagón, Ciudad Real, Villarubia de los Ojos, and El Robledo.

Among the activities of the Miguelturra Carnival, they organize several competitions, which year after year attract a large audience and participants, filling the CERE Carnival Palace.

One of the first contests the association held was “Your mask sound familiar”, which has been running since 2013. Participants dress up to imitate their favorite singers, and the jury awards the best performance. The association first organized the “Charangas Contest” in 2016 and was a resounding success, with the participation of all the Charangas in Miguelturra.

This brief summary describes this association, which wishes the best for the Miguelturra Carnival, its entire population, and, of course, everyone who visits us.
