PEÑA LOS CANSALIEBRES YOUTH ASSOCIATION

Not many years ago, back in 2006, a group of friends founded what is now known as Peña Los Cansaliebres.

Specially dedicated to the preparation of the most important event in our town such as the Carnivals. The Cansaliebres have always been contributing their grain of sand to participate in the different functions and activities that take place during the period that this festival lasts, whether day or night.

The beginnings of this Peña were somewhat discreet, as they only participated in the Piñata Sunday parade, but over the years, this association has managed to make its presence within the Miguelturra Carnival noticeable and palpable.

A club very present throughout the carnival

To this day, it is present in all the events that take place during the week that the Carnival lasts. Their participation in the murgas and chirigotas contest since 2010 stands out. Apart from the monographic day, they organized a very peculiar Carnival Costumes contest, which had to be made with recyclable materials.

Together with their sister club Los Rocheros, they organize the Street Masks parade.

Since 2015, they have been organizing the famous “Puñao”, offering a snack at their headquarters to the entire procession and participants, who accompany the couple who will be officially proclaimed the Major Masks of the Miguelturra Carnival on the route to the Carnival Palace.

Leaving aside the Carnivals, throughout the year, they are present in the organization of activities and events in our town. Every year they prepare their particular April Fair, where a pleasant day of celebration is spent. It ends with the Sevillanas contest, yes, for those who dare to participate, the La Manchegas are one thing and the Sevillanas are another.

For the Miguelturra festivities, what cannot be missing is its well-known giant tortilla. It takes place in Doctor Fleming Park, where everyone present enjoys a portion at the end of their laborious preparation.

And to say goodbye to the year, it is now customary to organize a New Year’s Eve cotillion in a local bar. A good way to welcome the year with friends and acquaintances.

They have been organizing the PreCarnival since 2016

Before the beginning of the Carnival and since 2016, they prepare their engines with the organization of a pre-carnival event, with the performance of a troupe at the Carnival Palace. In 2017, the Martínez Ares Comparsa (Winner of the COAC 2016), delighted us with their FINAL TOUR LOS COBARDES AND ITS ANTOLOGY AL CALDERO. There was a full house at the Carnival Palace to witness this performance.

In the sports section, they have had an indoor soccer team since 2016, participating in different leagues and marathons in localities of the province, highlighting its presence on several occasions in the marathon of the city of Cáceres.

Finally, they comment that they are a group of people who like to “party and have fun” and as their slogan says, LONG LIVE THE DISASTER!
