Kapikua triumphs in the Carnaval Museum Costumes Contest
Kapikua first prize in the men’s and women’s costume, David Méndez first individual prize
The Carnival Palace was once again packed to the brim for the 33rd Carnival Museum Costume Competition. At 9:30 p.m., the local groups presented their costumes for the Piñata Sunday parade. The winning costumes in the men’s and women’s categories will remain in the Carnival Museum ‘MOMO’ for the next five years, while the winning costume in the individual category will remain there for one year.
The prizes were the following:
Individual
Prize: 200 euros sponsored by Certrade Azulejos y Paviventos, David Méndez Mendoza, theme “From Geisha to Zodiac Warrior”
Women
Prize: 400 euros sponsored by the Miguelturra City Council, Peña Kapikua, theme: “The Chronicles of Narnia”
Man
Prize: 350 euros sponsored by the Miguelturra City Council, Peña Kapikua, theme: “The Chronicles of Narnia”
Window Display Contest
Once this competition was over and while the jury deliberated, the prizes for the 2nd Carnival Window Display Competition were awarded. This event allowed local businesses to showcase the festive, carnival-like atmosphere that Miguelturra exudes during these dates.
The event has been organized by the Small Business Association and the Miguelturra City Council. The jury, composed of Diego Rodríguez, Councilor for Festivities of the Miguelturra City Council, Julián Arévalo, and Raúl Domínguez, president of the Miguelturra Carnival Association, awarded the following prizes:
Best Composition and Design, gift voucher sponsored by Viajes Rodrigo and Rodrigo’s Inmobiliaria, for Óptica Lara.
Originality and Innovation, gift voucher sponsored by Distribuciones Sacra, for Electrodomésticos Tere.
Public Special, gift voucher for a trip sponsored by the Miguelturra City Council, for Mercería Blanco y Rosa.
All the winners received the corresponding diploma, carnival mask, 30 advertising spots on Radio Miguelturra and an 8 by 11 ad in the BIM for the month of April.
