Quique Torito, La Tribuna, and M.ª Prado Corral are the new ambassadors of the Miguelturra Carnival.

Quique Jiménez “Torito” from La Tribuna de Ciudad Real and M.ª Prado Corral Palmero, new ambassadors of the Miguelturra Carnival.

On the morning of Tuesday, March 4, the entrance to the Momo Carnival Museum became the perfect setting for the presentation of these awards.

The event was attended by the town’s Mayor, Luis Ramón Mohíno; the Councilor for Culture and Celebrations, Carmen María Mohíno; and the rest of the municipal council.

The carnival authorities were represented by Raúl Domínguez, President of the Cultural Association of Carnival Clubs, as well as the major masks of 2024: Rafa and M.ª Luisa, and those of 2025: Berna and Esther.

With all the details prepared, the presentation ceremony for the three new ambassadors of the Miguelturra Carnival began, thus receiving the Alhiguí de Honor.

Mª Prado Corral Palmero receives the Alhiguí of Local Honor.

The most emotional moment of the morning came when the name of the recipient of the Local Alhiguí of Honor was revealed. Her involvement in our festival, her work as a street masker, her pan-fried fruit, and her entire life dedicated to her beloved Carnival were more than enough reasons for Mª Prado Corral Palmero to receive this award.

The Ciudad Real Tribune has received the provincial award.

This newspaper is celebrating its 35th anniversary, and during these 35 years, they have provided extensive coverage of our festival, collaborating in the ongoing dissemination of the Miguelturra Carnival. Diego Murillo, the newspaper’s editor, was responsible for collecting the award and thanking the entire community of Miguelturra for this recognition.

In his words, he emphasized that “the Miguelturra Carnival is the most important in the province, although on occasion they have tried to take away this well-deserved accolade”.

Quique Jiménez ‘Torito’, National Ambassador of the Miguelturra Carnival.

Another of the morning’s most anticipated moments was the presentation of the national award. In 2025, it was awarded to Quique Jiménez “Torito”, who visited us in 2018 during the Carnival opening ceremony and provided extensive coverage of our festival on one of the country’s most-watched television programs.

Grateful to the people of Miguelturra, he has promised to return to enjoy our Carnival.

Congratulations to the winners and long live the Miguelturra Carnival!
