El Puntillo for women and Kapikúa for men triumph in the 38th edition of the Carnival Costume Museum.
Carnival Museum Costume Contest 2024
The Palacio del Carnaval is once again full to witness the XXXVIII Carnival Costume Museum Contest. At 20:30, the local peñas presented their costumes with which they will take part in the Piñata Sunday parade. The winning costumes in the men’s and women’s categories will remain for the next five years in the ‘MOMO’ Carnival Museum.
The prizes were the following:
Individual Costume
Prize 200 euros sponsored by Aquilice Cocinas, Peña El Mogollón del Robledo theme “The Barong Dance”.
Woman’s Costume
Prize 400 euros sponsored by Certrade, Peña El Puntillo, theme “Tropical Buzz”.
Men’s Constume
Prize 400 euros sponsored by the Novelec Group, Peña Kapikúa, theme “The Elves of Azeroth”.
Previously, while the jury examined the costumes, the prizes for the VIII Carnival Shop Window Contest were awarded. This event has allowed the local shops to show off the festive and carnival atmosphere that Miguelturra breathes at this time of year.
The event was organised by Miguelturra Town Council. The jury made up of Miguel Ángel García, councillor for Economic Promotion and Tourism of Miguelturra Town Council, Julián Arévalo Céspedes, window dresser, Raúl Domínguez, president of Cultural Association of Carnival Peñas, Nieves Almansa, Laura Escudero and Luis Vinuesa, all of them councillors of Miguelturra Town Council, awarded the following prizes:
Best Composition and Design, a travel gift voucher worth 100 euros, redeemable at Viajes Rodrigo, sponsored by the Miguelturra Town Council, for Pinturas y Distribución Rafael Expósito Royo.
Originality and Innovation, travel gift voucher valued at 100 euros, redeemable at Viajes Rodrigo, sponsored by the City Council of Miguelturra, for Optica Lara.
Special Public Prize, a gift voucher to be exchanged in any establishment participating in the competition, sponsored by the Town Council of Miguelturra, for Floristería Tu Jardín.
All the winners received a carnival mask, a diploma and 30 advertising spots on Radio Miguelturra.
