Los Rocheros, El Puntillo and El Mogollón take top honours at the 40th Carnival Museum Costume Contest

XL Costume Contest, Carnival Museum 2026

Friday 20 February arrived, and the 2026 Miguelturra Carnival proved that it remains alive and kicking 24 hours a day. The Carnival Palace was once again packed to the rafters to enjoy a night of carnival competitions, marking the start of the 40th Carnival Museum Costume Contest. Shortly after 9.00 pm, some of the costumes that we will be able to see in next Sunday’s Piñata Parade began to take to the stage. Furthermore, the winning costumes will be on display at the ‘MOMO’ Carnival Museum.

The Peñas taking part in this contest were Kapikúa, L@s Spartan@s, Los Rocheros and El Puntillo, in both the men’s and women’s categories. In the individual category, there were two entries from the El Mogollón Peña (El Robledo).

The prizes were as follows:

PRIZES FOR THE XL COSTUME CONTEST AT THE CARNIVAL MUSEUM 2026:
SINGLE SUIT:

200-euro prize sponsored by Aquilice Cocinas: Leire de Peña El Mogollón from El Robledo (Ciudad Real) for ‘Gaudí, a century of inspiration’.

WOMEN’S SUIT:

400-euro prize sponsored by Certrade, Tiles and Flooring: Los Rocheros, with “Aromatic coffee rochero”.

MEN’S SUIT:

400-euro prize sponsored by the Novelec Group: Peña El Puntillo, for “The Night of the Great Coven”.
