Raúl Domínguez crier of the Barrio de Oriente

The opening speech for the Barrio de Oriente Festival will have a Carnival flavor.

On July 18th, starting at 10:30 p.m., Raúl Domínguez Donate, president of the Miguelturra Carnival Association, will be the town crier for the 2018 Barrio de Oriente Festival.

Originally from Miguelturra, Raúl is 33 years old and married to María, with whom he shares one of his greatest passions: carnival. Although they participate in different groups, María in the Peña la Cabra and Raúl in the Peña los Rocheros.

A trade and marketing graduate, he works as a sales representative in large retail stores. One of his greatest passions is Holy Week. He has been a member of the Brotherhood of the Holy Sepulchre since childhood and has served as its treasurer since 2010.

Together with a group of friends who share his great passion for Carnival, they created one of the youngest Peñas in Miguelturra. In May 2013, they founded the Peña los Rocheros, and have been its president ever since.

President of the Association of Peñas

In June 2016, he was appointed President of the Miguelturra Carnival Association (Association of Peñas), replacing another great president, José Gamito Hornero.

The “Your Mask Sounds Familiar” contest is one of his favorites during the Churriego Carnival celebrations. Due to his position within the Peñas Association, he does it outside of the competition, with extraordinary imitations of characters such as Falete and Mónica Naranjo.

A distinguished town crier for the Barrio de Oriente Festival, held from July 18 to 22 in honor of its patron saint, Our Lady of Health.
